Prerequisite(s): TSI Assessment Math score of 336-349, or ABEM score of 5-6. Co-requisite(s): MATH 1053
The course supports students in developing skills, strategies, and reasoning needed to succeed in Contemporary Mathematics. Developmental topics include integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, exponents, linear equations and inequalities and their graphs, deductive and inductive reasoning, interpretation of data from graphs and charts. Other topics include integration of the above topics into the content topics of theory of elections and apportionment, graphs and networks, and statistics.

Prerequisite(s): MATH 1003 with a grade of C or better, math TSI Assessment score of 350, math THEA score of 270, math Accuplacer score of 90, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
Equations, inequalities, rational expressions, exponents, logarithms, radicals, functions, graphs, and systems of equations. Each student must have a graphing calculator. (This course is designed for students planning to take additional mathematics.)

MATH 2043 - Structure of the Number System II (TCCNS = MATH 1351) 3 (3-0)
Prerequisite(s): MATH 2033 with a grade of C or better.
Decimals, ratio and proportion, percents, real numbers; properties of basic geometric figures in two and three dimensions; congruence, construction, similarity, and basic geometric proof; measurement, perimeter, area, surface area, volume, and unit conversions; Pythagorean theorem and distance formula. This course stresses conceptual understanding of mathematics through concrete examples, models, multiple representations of ideas and concepts, and processes of mathematical reasoning.
