Athletic Training, B.S.A.T.

The Athletic Training Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education Programs (CAATE).

The requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training (BSAT) degree with a major in Athletic Training are as follows:

Academic Foundations and Core Curriculum - 42 semester hours

Major - 72 semester hours


Other Specific Requirements - 6 semester hours


Required courses in the core curriculum (2 overflow hours counted here):

BIOL 1134 - Anatomy and Physiology I  
BIOL 1234 - Anatomy and Physiology II  

and

4 hours of CHEM/GEOS/PHYS

Minor

Note:


Upon completion of this degree the student will be eligible to apply for the certification exam given by the national Board of Certification (BOC) and the Texas Athletic Training Licensure Exam administered by the Texas Department of State Health Services.  Endorsement for the national Board of Certification (BOC) exam must be earned by completion of cohort level specific “gameday” exams, practice exams and mock BOC exams with a score of 80% or higher.  Failure to achieve an 80% score on the cohort level specfic “gameday” exams, practice exams and mock BOC exams will result in a student not being endorsed for the national BOC exam.  Students will still be eligible for the State of Texas AT licensure exam.  In order to receive the BOC certification and/or Texas AT Licensure, students must submit proof of graduation and awarding of the BSAT degree.
