The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with teacher certification is a studio-intensive program that prepares students to teach art at all levels (K-12) in public and private educational institutions.

Core Curriculum Specifics
Writing Proficiency Requirement
Graduation requirements at Midwestern State University include passing the Writing Proficiency Exam, to be taken after the student has completed 60 hours of coursework and before they have accrued 90 hours. Students failing the exam must pass ENGL 2113 - Intermediate Composition & Grammar .
Art History Elective (non-Western) - 3 hours
Art History Elective - 3 hours
Studio Area - 12 hours
Twelve hours of any one studio area:
Professional Education for Secondary Certification - 21 hours
Note:
* 3 hours are duplicated in the major but the total program hours to do not change.
