Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

A student majoring in sociology has the option of obtaining a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree. See requirements for the B.A. and B.S. degrees.

SOCL 2233 - Global Social Problems 3 (must choose another course for the core )
SOCL 3313 - Statistics for the Social and Behavioral Sciences 3

Advanced Elective Courses - 18 semester hours

Fifteen advanced semester hours selected with the approval of the student’s advisor

Comprehensive Examination

All sociology majors must take a written comprehensive examination during their senior year. Contact the Sociology Department office to make testing arrangements.

Minor Requirement

All Sociology majors must complete a minor of at least 18 semester hours of which at least six must be advanced. The minor field selected must be acceptable to the chairs of major and minor programs.
