The Bachelor of Musical Arts degree focuses on preparing students for professional careers in music, music in combination with an outside field such as business, media, or entrepreneurship, and as private teachers. Its interdisciplinary emphasis will be tailored to each student individually depending on their area(s) of outside interest. Students graduating with this degree are well-prepared to enter various graduate programs in and out of the field of music.

Core Curriculum Specifics
Major Area and Supportive Courses in Music - 60 semester hours
Applied Music - Primary - 8 hours
(2 semesters at 1_ _ 1-level; 2 semesters at 2_ _ 1-level; 2 semesters at 3_ _1-level; 2 semesters at 4_ _1-level) (See course listing in the Music Department .)
Major Ensemble - 8 hours
MUSC: Major Ensemble (2 semester hours at 1000 level; 2 semesters 2000-level; 2 semesters at 3000-level; 2 semesters at 4000-level) (See course listing in the Music Department .)

Outside Studies as Developed for and by the Student - 18 semester hours
*39 credits must be upper level (3000-4000 course numbers between all required music courses, advanced music electives, and outside studies as developed by the student.)
