The requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in humanities include the following components.

Humanities Interdisciplinary Major - 30 semester hours, plus an 18-hour concentration (which satisfies the requirement for a minor)
English - 6 hours
With the Coordinator’s permission, an advanced comparative or world literature course may be substituted for either or both of these requirements. History - 6 hours
With the Coordinator’s permission, an advanced history course that does not focus on the U.S. may be substituted for either or both of these requirements. Philosophy - 6 hours
Any PHILcourse above the 1000-level may be used for this requirement.HUMN 4073 Internship may be taken in lieu of one of these PHIL courses. Field of Concentration - 18 hours
Note: Courses used to satisfy core curriculum cannot be duplicated in the concentrations. 18 hours in one of the following fields. The completion of any of the following fields of concentration satisfies the requirement for a minor. English
18 hours of English courses, including at least 12 advanced hours. History
18 hours of history courses, including at least 12 advanced hours. At least 12 hours must be on non-U.S. history Philosophy
18 hours of philosophy courses, including at least 12 advanced hours. World Cultures
18 hours including at least 12 advanced, chosen from: Approved Electives
Electives approved by student’s advisor to bring total to 120 semester hours. Developmental courses cannot be counted as electives. |
