The requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in humanities include the following three components:

Humanities Interdisciplinary Major - 36 semester hours
Note:
Courses of the same title cannot be taken at both the 2000 and 4000 levels. Note:
An advanced course in the history of the art form may be substituted for all but the Academic Foundations requirements; e.g., Art History for ART 1413 ; Music Survey for MUSC 1033 ; or History and Aesthetics of the Theatre for THEA 1503 .
Field of Concentration - 18-24 hours
To make a total of 24 hours in one of the following fields, beyond Academic Foundations requirements.
The completion of any of the following fields of concentration satisfies the requirements for a minor. Advanced Studio Hours
Nine advanced studio hours chosen to survey studio options rather than achieve specialization English - 18 semester hours
Eighteen hours from advanced English courses, but may include only one writing course and one English language course. French - 18 semester hours
Eighteen hours of courses beyond FREN 2233 . History - 18 semester hours
Eighteen hours of advanced History courses; may include HIST 4063 or HIST 4613 , but not both.
Music - 21 semester hours
Twenty-one hours including at least 6 in Music Theory; at least 9 advanced hours, including Music History and Music Literature; may also include up to 6 advanced hours in a performance area. Philosophy - 21 semester hours
Twenty-one hours including 12 advanced hours from Philosophy listing. Political Science - 24 semester hours
Twenty-four hours from advanced Political Science courses, but may include only one course from Law or Public Administration offerings. Spanish - 18 semester hours
Eighteen hours of courses beyond SPAN 2233 ; SPAN 3333 may not be repeated. Theatre - 21 semester hours
