NURS 3873 - Concepts in Mental Health Care

Prerequisite(s): NURS 3803 , 3811 , 3812 , 3813 , 3821 , 3833 , and 3843 .

Individuals with psychosocial and/or psychiatric needs are considered a vulnerable population in today’s health care settings. Concepts and principles emphasized in this course pertain to communication, inner personal relationships, and utilization of the nursing process in planning the nursing care for clients manifesting psychosocial and or psychiatric needs. Individualized and supplemental materials as well as class room discussions provides students with opportunities to develop a greater understanding of self and to increase their ability in relating to individuals, families, group and communities (IFGC) along the mental health continuum in structured and non-structured settings.
