Mission Statement for the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering
The McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering has as its major mission teaching of the highest quality at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The college offers 7 undergraduate degrees: biology, chemistry, computer science, geosciences, mathematics, mechanical engineering, and physics (as a partner in the Texas Physics Consortium). Master’s degrees are offered in biology and computer science. The college has well-educated faculty members who are excellent teachers and professionals in their disciplines.
Through its faculty and programs, the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering provides students with the knowledge and skills for life-long learning, the ability to understand the world in which they live, and the means to comprehend engineering, mathematical, and scientific advancements and their benefit to future generations. To further assist in the accomplishment of this mission, the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering fosters research and scholarship of high quality among the faculty, undergraduate, and graduate programs. To provide outreach as an educational institution, the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering assists its faculty in utilizing its expertise to the benefit of the university community and regional, state, national, and international communities.
