The requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Art are as follows:

Writing Proficiency Requirement
All students seeking a Bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they have 1) completed 6 hours of Communication Core and 2) earned 60 hours. Students may meet this requirement by passing the Writing Proficiency Exam, two Writing Intensive Courses (at least one must be outside of the general education core), or ENGL 2113 . Major in Art - 78 semester hours
Art History Elective (non-Western) - 3 semester hours
Art History Elective - 3 semester hours
Major Studio - 12 semester hours of one studio area
Choose from Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Metals, Photography, Graphic Design, or Sculpture
Minor Studio - 9 semester hours of one studio area
Choose from Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Metals, Photography, Graphic Design, Sculpture, or Drawing
Advanced Art Electives - 3 semester hours
Three hours from any art course 3000 or above
Total Semester Hours - 120

The college can retain student work as desired for reference or exhibition purposes. If the student, upon due notification, does not claim his/her work after a three-month period, the University will have the right to dispose of it. |
